Occasionally, blood may be identified on a garment which has been washed or wiped off if the stain has not been subjected to strong soap, bleach, or hot water. Blood has been found on weapons that have been cleaned, and hands that have been washed have been found with traces of blood under the fingernails. Any evidence which is suspected of bearing even the tiniest traces of blood should not be overlooked. No evidence can be determined to be totally free of blood traces without a thorough laboratory examination.
